What common problems can be solved?
Our sustainable Chinese teapots and cups can solve many of the problems associated with tea drinking and the traditional teaware.
Disposable Cup Waste: The amount of waste created by single-use beverage containers is one of the foremost environmental challenges of our time. Use of our reusable teaware significantly reduces the need for disposable alternatives. Our sustainable Chinese teaware is designed to provide a durable reusable option – a long-term solution to this problem. This simple switch can mean a massive reduction in the waste we send to landfill and the resources we consume. By switching to reusable, we can also…
Concerns About Toxins in Traditional Ceramics: Historically, some traditional ceramic glazes have used lead or cadmium pigments which can be hazardous to health if used for holding food or beverages, especially hot beverages. Our eco-friendly teaware is made with lead-free glazes and non-toxic materials to ensure your tea stays safe and pure for drinking. We select materials that are inert and do not leach hazardous chemicals so you have peace of mind in every cup.
Subpar Tea Drinking Experience: Drinking tea from paper or plastic cups can detract from the subtle aromas and flavors of quality tea. The material can impart unwanted tastes or smells, diminishing the sensory pleasure. Our teaware, made from materials like high-quality ceramic or glass, is designed to be neutral and enhance the natural characteristics of the tea, allowing you to fully appreciate its complexity and nuance. The traditional designs also encourage a more mindful and enjoyable tea ritual.
Lack of Durability in Some Teaware: Flimsy or poorly made teaware can chip, crack, or break easily, leading to frequent replacements and more waste. Our eco-friendly teapots and cups are built for durability and longevity, using robust materials and quality craftsmanship. This not only provides better value over time but also reduces the environmental impact associated with manufacturing and disposing of less durable products.
The Challenge of Finding Real and Authentic and Sustainable: For many consumers and businesses looking for traditional Chinese teaware that align with their environmental values, it can be difficult to find trustworthy options. Our collection provides the two qualities to overcome this challenge offering an authentic design manufactured sustainably for consumers and businesses to make an easy choice.

FAQ
Here are the frequently asked questions we mostly receive and ask from many tea enthusiasts like you about our eco-friendly Chinese teapots and cups described in full detail:
We’ve carefully selected each eco-friendly material based on its sustainability, non-toxicity, and performance. Some of those eco-friendly teaware include:
A high-fired ceramic that consists of natural clays (usually finished with a lead-free and cadmium-free glaze)
Borosilicate glass that’s durable, resistant to thermal shock, and chemically-inert so no chemical leach into your teas
Or sustainable bamboo for most of the set handles or trays
We seek to use materials that are renewable, recyclable, or has significantly a lower environmental impact in their production and uses than a conventional material egg.
Care and maintenance There are two main materials your cups or pots may use:
Ceramic – Manual washing is recommended For those deeply into the tea experience and are using one kind of tea, The simple rinse with hot water only to allow a coating of tea oils to form corroborate is what most tea enthusiasts get the best results.
Maintain the quality of your teaware in 3 simple steps!
Wash with warm water using only a very soft sponge, soft cloth or sometimes the soft part of a regular kitchen sponge
Rinse very thoroughly
Manually dry all the shadowing parts using a soft piece of cloth that often stays wet if not dried
Additionally, it may need an air-dry and might spot the water droplets, or on certain porcelain, it could be quite noticeable.
Glass – To eliminate tea stains or any daunting task, systematic methods are always highly preferred. When washing common teaware like porcelain teapots or teacups, the use of warm water and dish soap does no wrong. Mostly happens around 70% of the time due to washing with soft water so basically, the use of a very small pot of soap on the inner side is likely enough to wash the teaware clean. Given 40°C hot water, it’s always a goal to make sure that the temperature is jaw-dropping hot but bearable.
The use of warm water and dish soap
Do not use hard-to-scratch teapots or damage-glazed surfaces like steel wool (or) aggressive scouring pads
Rinse really thoroughly
Lastly, manually dry, air dry

The size you’ll need depends mainly on how many people you usually serve tea to, and of course how you like to brew your tea. A typical traditional Chinese tea ceremony like Gong Fu Cha uses very small teapots (between 70ml and 180ml) in order to perform many short infusions and therefore extract the maximum flavour potential from the leaves, with the small potions served in many small cups.
If you tend to drink tea alone or with one other person, a small pot is often sufficient. If you’re serving 3-6 people, a large pot (200ml+) will be more convenient and save you constantly resteeping!
The cups in traditional sets are kept intentionally very small for similar reasons – you’re serving a number of small potions in turn, allowing you and your guests to experience the development of the tea’s taste.
Traditional teapots, such as clay or ceramic teapots are meant for steeping tea and NOT for boiling water. Typical ceramic teapots are a weaker material and can be damaged from overheating and/or thermal shock. Water should be boiled in a separate vessel (glass kettle, saucepan, other metal kettle) and added to the teapot (after rinsing pot with hot water first) along with the tea to steep.
Some teapots in our selection, like some borosilicate glass teapots, are specifically intended for stove top use. Please make sure to read individual product descriptions or look for our stovetop safe icon for each item to confirm.
While many teapots and tea cups are already made out of raw natural materials (ceramic or glass), this eco-friendly teaware focuses on reducing toxins, and chooses material that isn’t only natural & non-toxic, but also sourced and produced in a way that minimises impact on the planet; lead-free glazes, sustainably produced where possible, and the fact that the materials are reusable, long-lasting, and lower on waste in comparison to disposable.
We are open and honest about what our materials are and what planet-friendly or eco-friendly credential they have, where possible.
The material of the teaware can impact the taste and fragrance of the tea. High-fired ceramic or porcelain teapots are regarded as almost neutral, and enable the taste of the tea to shine through.
Unglazed clay teapots, and in particular those made from Yixing clay, are unique in that they tend to absorb the tea oils and gradually season the pot over time. This can improve the flavour of certain types of teas (e.g. Oolong tea or Pu-erh tea) over time with continued use.
Borosilicate glass is completely non-reactive and imparts no flavour on the tea. It is therefore a good choice for brewing tea without affecting the taste.
We offer teaware in all of these materials (bamboo, stainless steel) so that you can find the right one for your needs.
Yes. Many of our pieces have been chosen with traditional Chinese tea ceremonies (like Gong Fu Cha) in mind, whether that be: 1) appropriately-sized teapots for multiple infusions 2) small tasting cups, or 3) designs that take into consideration the aesthetic practices of more traditional Chinese teaware
In this way, using these sets can enhance the authenticity and pleasure of performing a traditional tea ceremony, giving you the opportunity to connect with the cultural origins of tea drinking.

Selection/Comparison advices
Finding the perfect teapot and cups can mean different things to different people – not only do you have a long list of materials, sizes, styles and properties to consider, it’s important that these things align with your individual tea tastes and values.
Here’s a comparison to help you on your way:
To choose from our eco-friendly collection, bear in mind your own tea drinking preferences. If you enjoy multiple types of tea and care about ease of cleaning and break-resistance, you may prefer an eco-friendly ceramic or borosilicate glass set. If you are a lover of Oolong or Pu-erh and enjoy the tradition of seasoning a teapot, then choose an unglazed clay teapot and be sure that it is a product without unethical labour cost or nasty additives. If you love the classic elegance of porcelain and enjoy appreciating the subtle notes brought out by lighter teas, then porcelain could be the better option. As always, choose the thing that makes you happiest in your tea ritual, while being assured that it is the sustainable choice.

The Green Café’s Story
A small eco-minded café owner swapped out all their disposable tea cups for elegant reusable ceramic teaware (from a collection like ours!). The amount spent on waste disposal noticeably reduced, and clients universally praised the high-quality drinkware and applauded the establishment’s environmentally friendly actions. From something you drink out of every day, it became a central point of difference – in line with their values, certainly, but also, very literally, the sort of thing that environmentally conscious people would go out of their way for. It’s proof that making the greener change in your choice of teaware can have a very real, meaningful and big-picture positive effect.
The KI Brewer
I shared my personal growth journey with a customer: I used to drink tea in a big mug using tea bags. I now brew twice a day in a traditional Chinese teapot using a strainer and pour my well-infused tea into little cups. The ritual of brewing tealeaves in a dedicated teapot slowed me down. I am more present because of it. I noticed my tea tastes better. I use durable beautiful pieces that I own; my brewing sessions feel more special, and less wasteful than using disposable ones. It speaks to the personal wellbeing and more elevated sensory experience of using elevated quality teaware.
The health-focused family
A family worried about the potential chemical exposure from their kitchenware searched for lead-free and certified non toxic ceramic tea ware. They bought one of our eco-designed sets and told us they felt much more confident and relaxed knowing their family was drinking tea from safe materials. They also loved that the ceramic set was durable enough to withstand frequent use by several family members, showing that a health-conscious choice can also be a practical and durable one.
